8 celebrants for a personal ceremony in Sydney
Highlights. Your ceremony is the one part of the day everyone is paying attention to, so it is worth having a celebrant who makes it sound like you. Here are eight authorised marriage celebrants who work in Sydney, each with a slightly different personality. We list them in no particular order, and you can message any of them before you decide.
What we mean by "a personal ceremony"
We mean a ceremony written for the two of you, from your story to your vows, rather than a template with the names swapped in. These eight all describe it that way on their own sites.
The eight
Chloe McGrath, Ceremony by Chloe

Chloe is a civil marriage celebrant on Sydney's Northern Beaches who aims for ceremonies that are heartfelt, relaxed and genuinely feel like the couple. She wants guests to laugh, maybe cry a little, and walk away saying "that was so them".
Whether you want something sophisticated and elegant, short and sweet, or warm and lightly playful, Chloe works closely with each couple to reflect your connection, your values and your journey together. Her approach is calm, organised and deeply personal: she takes care of the legalities and the logistics so the process feels easy.
She has been a marriage celebrant since 2017, almost a decade, and comes from a background in wedding planning and events. She officiates weddings across Sydney, the Hunter Valley and the Southern Highlands.
A good fit if you want a warm celebrant who can adapt the tone from elegant to playful.
"We absolutely LOVED having Chloe as our celebrant."

Claire Belford, Northern Beaches

Claire was appointed as a celebrant in 2009 and is based on Sydney's Northern Beaches. She describes herself as an experienced, award-winning celebrant and an industry leader, with a reputation for engaging, personalised ceremonies and warm, professional service.
She guides you through both the creative and the legal sides of getting married, from an obligation-free first meeting to the legal paperwork meeting, where she helps you complete the Notice of Intended Marriage. She says the best feedback she gets is from guests who believe she is an old friend of the couple.
She works across Sydney and beyond, from intimate elopements to celebrations for hundreds, and is also available for other life celebrations. Past couples leave endorsements of her work.
A good fit if you want a very experienced celebrant who handles the legal process and the ceremony with a professional touch.

Georgie, Marry Us Georgie

Georgie is a Northern Beaches marriage celebrant whose pitch is captivating ceremonies with "all the laughs, all the feels and none of the cringe". She was a professional actor and writer for ten years, and uses those storytelling skills to write ceremonies that are funny, heartfelt and authentic.
After a first cuppa with you, she writes a fully personalised ceremony from scratch, then prepares and lodges the legal paperwork with the Births, Deaths and Marriages registry. Her full package includes a free quote and a free "vibe check" by Zoom or phone, one face-to-face planning meeting, unlimited calls, an outdoor PA system with a wireless microphone, and printed vow cards in case you forget yours.
Georgie offers bespoke weddings, destination weddings and legals-only ceremonies, so you can choose the size of service that suits you.
A good fit if you want a fun, down-to-earth celebrant who writes the whole ceremony around you and handles the paperwork.
"We had an unforgettable experience with Georgie being our celebrant."

Alison Pickel, Alison the Celebrant

Alison describes herself as a straight-talking, food-obsessed authorised marriage celebrant who is "not your mum's friend kind of celebrant". She doesn't want to go on about how sacred marriage is or what your wedding should be; she wants to co-create a ceremony that celebrates what is unique about the two of you.
Her tailor-made ceremony includes a pre-wedding meeting to plan your day, a detailed ceremony handbook, a ceremony written for the two of you with up to two rounds of script changes, and a Zoom or in-person rehearsal. She also supplies a Bose PA system with a wireless microphone and lodges the legal paperwork.
She promises unlimited contact by email, phone and text while you plan, and lays out the process step by step, with pricing and wedding tips, so you know what to expect before you get in touch. She also does vow renewals.
A good fit if you prefer a plain-spoken celebrant with a clear process and no old-fashioned formality.
"We couldn't have chosen a better celebrant."

Lucy Suze, Lucy Suze Celebrant and MC (Inner West)

Lucy is a celebrant and MC based in Sydney's Inner West who travels across Sydney and NSW, including the Northern Beaches, the Eastern Suburbs, the Southern Highlands and the Hunter Valley. She aims for ceremonies that are warm, funny and heartfelt rather than generic, and says she would rather give you humour and emotion than a history lesson.
She starts by learning your stories and quirks, then turns them into a ceremony that suits your guests and your style, whether the wedding is large, intimate or relaxed. Because she also works as an MC and performer, she can lead the ceremony and then keep the reception moving.
A good fit if you want a celebrant with a performer's ease who can run the ceremony and the reception.
"She is an incredible celebrant who made all our guests laugh and cry."

Zoe, Marry Me Zoe

Zoe is a modern, fun celebrant and MC who writes each ceremony from scratch, with no generic scripts. She aims for a lively ceremony with humour, heart and the occasional surprise, built around the people getting married, and she welcomes couples of all identities.
You start with an initial chat over a drink in her Inner West neighbourhood or by video call, which she describes as a relaxed vibe check rather than a sales call, with no commitment. She then writes a ceremony from your love story, covering how you met, who you are to each other and how you plan to face life together, and arrives on the day ready to make it a celebration.
A good fit if you want a playful, personalised ceremony and a celebrant who is happy to lead the party.
"We could not have found a better celebrant. Zoe totally shocked us with awesomeness on our wedding day."

Meggan Brummer, Sydney Celebrant Services

Meggan is a celebrant based in Mosman on Sydney's lower north shore, working across Sydney, the Eastern Suburbs, the Northern Beaches, the Hunter Valley, the Central Coast, the Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Bowral. She says she has been a celebrant for over 14 years, after 22 years as an internationally published writer. Her style is warm, relaxed and personable, and she builds each ceremony around your story without making it long or dull.
She offers a free introductory call on Zoom to see whether you suit each other, writes the ceremony with you, and can help with vows or review them so both partners' contributions feel balanced. She also records the ceremony and delivers the video the next day with a keepsake book of the script and vows, and suggests a ceremony of about 20 to 25 minutes.
A good fit if you want a story-led ceremony, help with your vows and a recording to keep.

Nicky Surnicky, Marry Me Nicky, Sutherland Shire

Nicky started Marry Me Nicky in 2014 after leaving the corporate world. She says she got sick of watching friends marry in dull ceremonies, and wanted to create fun, engaging ceremonies full of laughs and feels. She is based in Caringbah South in Sydney's Sutherland Shire and regularly works across Sydney, the South Coast, the Southern Highlands, the Blue Mountains, the Hunter Valley and regional NSW.
She offers three ceremony packages: a fully personalised ceremony that tells your story, a small elopement ceremony, and a legals-only ceremony. The personalised package includes a planning chat, a drafted ceremony, a rehearsal, the legal paperwork, help writing your vows and a PA system on the day.
She shares real weddings and the venues she regularly works at, so you can see where she works.
A good fit if you want a celebrant with a sense of humour who is determined that your ceremony will not be the boring part.
"Wow, where to start! We will be forever grateful to Nicky for all that she did in the lead up and on the day, making our wedding more than we ever could have dreamt for. She truly played an integral part in our wedding."

Before you book
Questions worth asking any celebrant:
- How do you gather our story, and how many meetings are there before the day?
- Can we see an example ceremony script?
- What is included in the fee, and what happens if our date changes?
- Have you worked at our venue, or will you visit it?
Your Notice of Intended Marriage must be given at least 1 month and no more than 18 months before the wedding, according to the Attorney-General's Department (read 26 September 2026).
We chose these celebrants from public information: each is on the Attorney-General's register, works in Sydney, and has positive reviews. Nobody pays to be included, and we have not tested anyone's services.
